We had a wonderful time.....Elaine made two roasts...yum! With potatoes. carrots, and onions.
Vayla, made mashed potatoes, Nephi brought punch, Stanley brought corn, Milton green beans, Muriel salad, both green and a jello salad, Muriel also brought a game with wonderful prizes. Linda made the yummy desserts...I brought the rolls, all in all we had a feast reminiscent of Sunday dinner mother used to make. We were all there: Nephi, Carol Lee, Mitlon, Vicki, Sharlene, Gary, Lamarr, Launa, Muriel, Kirk, Linda, Richard, Vayla, Elaine, and Kendall...with our wonderful parents Nephi and Elsie Lawlor. Elaine had three long tables set up with eclectic china, water goblets, and vintage valentine place cards with our names on them. She had a heart shaped nut and candy favor box with happy birthday dad and the date on it for each one of us. The house was decorated with crape paper and balloons and a beautiful rose bouquet on her serving table. We all had a chance to say our favorite memories with dad. The boys spoke of the traning of what a man was suppose to do. They learned to change the oil, drive the car, pull wire though attics and if they did not do it right they had to try again. All of us girls spoke about doing dad's hair. Vonetta and I started out with rubber bands and the Linda, Vayla and Elaine ended up with barettes. Muriel spoke about the love dad has for mother and how he missed her so much when she was in Iowa when Tara was born. She said that he wrote to her almost each day and addressed his letters to my dearest Elsie. That show Muriel how much he loves her. Vayla spoke about how mother fixed dad breakfast every morning....poached eggs, cream of wheat, and toast. She did this everyday while he was working. She also fixed his lunch each day. We are so blessed to have had parents that cared and still do and that have always been a good example. They have always shown us the way by going to church and fulfulling their church callings. We love you Mom and Dad!
